ibetX.com Scottish Derby 2009
Tunoco Tops

Ardkill Tunoco 4/1was the fastest in the first round heats of the ibetX.com Scottish Derby at Shawfield on Tuesday night with a calculated time of 29.05 , drawn on the outside he was ideally drawn for a clear run, from the off this result was never in doubt with a sectional time of (03.63), trained by the canny Pat Buckley this greyhound can go all the way,Tunoco put a decent field firmly in there place , Jesters Nap went off a very short price of 4/9f and was never a factor in this race with a very slow start , then finding trouble in running throughout, also to qualify from this heat was Drive On Captain and East County who both stayed on well

Mill Pinpoint 5/1was impressive winning his heat, leading all the way and looked a force to be reckoned with and if getting on the bunny he looks a hard greyhound to pass, Pinpoint definitely improved after his trail stake at the track and is one to keep a close eye on , other greyhounds to qualify from this heat were both trained by Fraser Black (Must Be Keano and Forest Master)

Ante post favourite Ninja Jamie was beaten in the first heat, although he done very well to qualify after being badly crowded at the first bend, and was nearly knocked over at one stage , it looked like bad news for ante post punters early doors but Jamie ran on well to sneak into third place ,Windy Millar 3/1  won this race after finding trouble early doors he stayed on far too strongly for Slip The Lark

Dotland Hitman 6/4fwas one of the punters top bets of the night and was never really going to lose this race with good pace at the first bend to take command and was never in danger although Tyrur Laurelled briefly and stayed on to qualify along with fellow kennel mate Daleys Buzz

Andy Reid local trainer at the track was unlucky to have two greyhounds in his heat but both came through in a trouble packed race with Glengar Alfred 8/1 getting the run of the race to win well from Drumna Thistle who ran wide from the off and was not ideally drawn, Crown Rover stable companion of Alfred was well fancied on the night and Rover will improve with his next run

All eyes were on Farloe Reason 4/7f after kennel companion Ninja Jamie was beaten at very short odds in the first heat and at one point it did not look good for Reason but his pace at the halfway stage won this race leading at the third bend , Da Attic ran well for local trainer Graeme Rankin , also qualifying tonight was the well fancied Ja Mann

Thurlesburg Joker2/1f  was a relief for punters staying on well and outstaying the classy Cabra Cool, but i fancy Cool is definitely one to follow in this tournament as he has phenomenal early pace, although he was slow from the traps tonight , also qualifying from this heat was Head iton Ellis who will have to improve next time to take any further part in this prestigious event

Drumna classic 7/4fwas another greyhound from the traps looked very unlikely to be caught winning his heat comfortably and it was really a race for the runners up spot, going to Greenwell Cool closely followed by Unabatedwho was completely outpaced early doors and stayed on well

Trap 4 Slip The Lark(m)   (P.Buckley)
Trap 5 Windy Millar(m)   (P.Rosney)
Trap 6 Larkhill Grove(m)  (M.Walsh)

Sniper Petra is a local hope but would need a miracle to win this heat , Villears Treacy won well in a trial stake but again will find it hard to win this, Larkhill Grove is another who will need to improve on current form , Slip The Lark has the early pace to run well , Ninja Jamie and Windy Millar are closely matched on a recent trial around here but I reckon Jamie's class can see him win this heat

Selection Ninja Jamie

Trap 4 Dotland Hitman(m) (A.R.Bell)
Trap 5 Unlocked(m)          (G.R.Hutt)
Trap 6 Plough Lane(m)     (Mrs J Bateson)

there are three Irish greyhound here all in with great chances with Target Kewell ideally drawn and Tyrur Laurel was well fancied for this event last year, Daleys Buzz can come out on top with his great early pace and can go clear early , Dotland Hitman will have many supporters after a good trial around here , Unlocked and Plough Lane will have to improve

Selection Daleys Buzz

Trap 6 Ardkill Tunocco(m) (P.Buckley)

Drive On Captain and East County always run well here but lack early pace and will be finishing strongly at the business end . Elwick Heights will have to improve along with Mustang Hawk . Ardkill Tunocco will be flying the flag for the Irish , Jesters Nap can take advantage early doors and hold off all challengers

Selection Jasters Nap

Trap 4 Kylegrove Top     (Mrs J Bateson)
Trap 5 Lleytons Dote     (G.Frew)
Trap 6 Flors Power(m)    (J.R Mchlachlan)

Drumna Thistle has decent Irish form and can go close here, local trainer Andy Reid has two greyhounds here Glengar Alfred and Crown Rover with Rover the best of the two, Kylegrove Top always runs well here and won a trial stake last time out but is not ideally drawn , LleytonsDote and Flors power need to improve

Selection Crown Rover

Trap 4 Da Attic                (G.Rankin)
Trap 5 Head Iton Toby(m) (S.Race)
Trap 6 Droopys Lionel(m)  (M.Daniels)

Farloe Reason should win this heat with a clear run , Ja Mann has decent Irish form but will have to be at his best to win this , Jethart Jackie has an ideal draw, Da Attic won a trial stake last time but will have to be on top form to take a hand in this one , Head Iton Toby was fancied last time and could run into a place , Droopys Lionel will need to improve

Selection Farloe Reason

Heat 6

Trap 1 Mill Pinpoint           (Mrs K. A Macari)
Trap 2 Must Be Keano       (F.Black)
Trap 3 Shadiyad               (P.Rosney)
Trap 4 Forest Master        (F.Black)
Trap 5 Titan Tyrone(m)     (L.Doyle)
Trap 6 Droopys Woosnam(w) (G.Frew)

Mill Pinpoint is full brother to Crown Rover and ran well around here last time , Titan Tyrone and Droopys Woosnam will have to improve on recent running, Must Be Keano has claims on best Irish Form , and i fancy this will be a match between Forest Master and Shadiyad with Master just prevailing

Heat 7

Trap 1  Ballymac Ruso     (M.J.Dartnel)
Trap 2 Tyrur Kirk             (C.Lister)
Trap 3 Cabra Cool           (P.Buckley)
Trap 4 Head Iton Ellis     (S.Race)
Trap 5 Greenwell River(m)(P.J.Flaherty)
Trap 6 Thurlesberg Joker(w)(B.Draper)

Ballymac Ruso is ideally drawn to go close, Tyrur Kirk will have to improve his trapping to get into contention , Head Iton Ellis was fancied in a trial stake but lacked early pace to get in a blow, Greewell River always runs well here, but i reckon this could end up a match between Cabra Cool andThurlesberg Joker with cool getting the better run

Selection Cabra Cool

Heat 8

Trap 1 Barbies Man       (P.Buckley)
Trap 2 Drumna Classic   (S.McGarry)
Trap 3 Tyrur Jay            (P.Hennesy)
Trap 4 Greenwell Cool(m)(P.Flaherty)
Trap 5 Mikes Mein(w)    (J.R.Mclachlan)
Trap 6 Unabated(w)     (G.Hutt)

The Irish have three greyhounds here flying the flag Barbies Man, Drumna classic and Tyrur Jay with Jay coming out on top, Greenwell Cool can go close, Mikes Mein and Unabated look outclassed tonight

Selection Tyrur Jay
